Demon's Dream Teaser

Here's something to keep you busy while waiting for the book.
Happy Weekend, everybody!

"Where are we?" Edward hissed as I led him toward Lissa's kitchen. I didn't even know who worked in it any more.

"You're in the palace in Lissia," I said. "On Le-Ath Veronis."

"The vampire planet?" Edward stopped dead still.

"What are you worried about?" I asked, stopping with him.

"They uh, wanted to turn somebody I know, once upon a time," he muttered. "Someone of my race."

"I think they're past that," I said, throwing out a hand in a dismissive gesture. "Come on, Lissa will pound somebody's head if they look at you wrong."

"You're sure? And her name is Lissa?"

"I am, and yes, her name is Lissa." I gave him an encouraging smile. "Besides, this is keeping me away from a counseling session with the good Doctor Halivar." I couldn't help but feel gleeful over that. "Are you hungry?" I dragged Edward with me until we reached the kitchen.

"This is wonderful," Edward sighed after eating nearly all the crepe I'd served him.

"I have a Master Cook's license," I reminded him.

"You said that. Now I believe it," he said. I heard footsteps and voices approaching and was prepared to make more crepes when several things happened. Lissa drew in a breath when she saw Edward. Flavio, Head of the Vampire Council, stared in shock and Edward blinked at the third member of their party before whispering, "Winkler?"

    3. at the moment, I don't have a complete itinerary, but London, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh are on the list. I'm trying to set up a short meet and greet somewhere, but haven't got it done, yet. Suggestions are welcome.

  12. Hmm, now I need to reread Shadowed, from the Ir'Indicti series for a refresher on Edward. I know how he knows Winkler but not Lyssa or Flavio. I also can't remember anyone trying to turn someone to a vampire in that book. Yeah, something to do while waiting for Demon's Dream! I already reread the Blood series and all the earlier Demon books. Does Edward appear in anything besides Shadowed? Or is that too big a secret. Wonderful work Connie.

    1. did you read Destroyer? he shows up at the end, there, so obviously he and Ashe have had contact :)Lissa still has her nose, too, so be prepared :D

  13. Cool, yes I've read all of your published work at least twice. Now I get to reread Destroyer too! I also get to go back and reference the Counselor w/Reah in the Demon series. Always fun to put hints and details together! I love the way you track your characters and events. Many authors seem to slap things together and make continuity errors. I'm really impressed with the quality of your work in addition to loving the stories themselves.

  14. Ok. So. I've been hitting re-fresh on this page every few hours for a couple of days now. (Got spoiled last month with such an early release) This is a nice apertif, even if it's still not the actual book. Yet. And if I'm thinking correctly, Edward was in Ir'Indicti #2 and #5. And Halivar is also familiar sounding, so I have to go look him up now.

Sounds like Reah is possibly in a hospital, presumably after her attempt at the end of the last book? Hrm.

(And yes, this is a good kick in the pants to dig up the full character bios I started for the wiki forever and a day ago.)

    1. Thank you Glossary - Halivar is Karzac's (and presumably Kevis's) last name. (Which I'm assuming isn't a spoiler since it is in the Glossary. Feel free to delete if I'm wrong.)

  15. I thin you are going to have to release an Index of people and who they are and where they appeared soon, even having read your books so many times this year I still cant remember everyone. :)

    1. The Glossary exists over at Connie's website.
      http://subtledemon.com/glossary.html

We're also making noises about doing a big table of people w/ cross-references at http://www.leathveronis.net/
Just because Connie's world is that incredibly rich.
