  4. Got the first read for the story done at 1 am this morning. Starting read for detail and minor plot lines.

I really liked this one. Ashe is developing into an amazing character and the wolves are rocking. Wlodek is gonna need to be taught something soon, I think.

    2. After going through again some questions remain:

      1. What's up with Dori and the mind speech?
      2. Chump and Wormy - spies or irrelevant?
      3. Wildrif is in the wind again?
      4. What terrifying stories did Gavin hear?
      5. Charles terrified?
      6. What was in the rest of the volume that Wlodek withheld?
      7. Did all the Jewels and Destroyers get waxed?
      8. Why was Trace's orientation significant?
      9. Ashe's Cliff Hanger!?!?

I am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

    3. Hi, Alfred!
I'll try to answer your questions (as much as I can--no spoilers):
      1. You'll find out in the last book :)
      2. You'll find out in the next book (Vendetta)
      3. Yes, sadly.
      4. That Wildrif knew too many personal things about his guards, etc., and tortured them with the information, among other things. This terrifies Gavin, because Wildrif is a loose cannon and can expose the hidden races. You understand how that might be a problem.
      5. Well, someday, you'll learn why. It may not be until Blood Double and a potential sequel are released.
      6. Parts of the H'Morr, which he wanted to withhold. In it, it describes how the Ir'Indicti might affect the Elemaiyan races. Even the author of the H'Morr wasn't aware of everything the Ir'Indicti might be.
      7. That question will be answered quickly in Vendetta
      8. Not particularly, but it does make him a little different. One day, in another book, it might hold significance :)
      9. Ashe's cliffhanger--well, we'll wait and see :D
      Happy Wednesday!

  5. Awesome! This is my favorite so far. Finished reading it and started reading it again right away.

Will Lissa and Ashe ever cross paths?

I am waiting on pins and needles for Blood Redemption.

Thanks Connie for the wonderful reads. Whenever I don't have anything new to read, I can always pick one of your books and be entertained all over again.

Great book, but it's like watching a slightly familiar train-wreck ... on a lighter note thank you for feeding our addiction :-)

    1. Well, since the vamps memories of Lissa were removed that at least explains why they are doomed to learn the same lesson with Ashe. LOL. :)

    2. Larry--you are so very right :)
You, too, Elizabeth. Thank you both!

    4. @ Elizabeth - Yes, although one would hope that the Saa Thalarr or their superiors would intervene since they are the cause of this egregious attitude towards Ashe. Just my opinion. :-)

I suspect Griffin is throwing his oar in again ... LOL.

    5. @ Larry - I think that the Saa Thalarr are in the same boat as the vamps with their memories removed, but dangit, Belen or the mysterious Hand could give this kid a break. For REAL!

Although I am beginning to think that the Nameless Ones use the adversity to measure character and then, I am hoping, provide recompense. I mean, the kid does have some pretty cool powers (and I think that one definition of the Ir'Indicti is that he has all the possible Elemaiyan powers whether he knows it or not, but I guess that remains to be seen), but if that power is not coupled with humility and mercy and justice, then he could just be Freisianna.

I had the same thought about Griffin throwing in, but I am not sure if he is just helping Merrill, or what.

I have to admit - at one time, the thought of Griffin's help would have made me cheer, but after the way he treated Lissa, his involvement in ANYTHING scares me to death. Ashe does not need anyone like Griffin in his life!

Random other thoughts - I think Rabis is Ashe's grandfather and have been mulling over whether or not Narissa could be his grandmother?

    6. I have suspicions about the Hand, I doubt he can help at this point in the timeline.

As for testing via adversity, there is a line between adversity and torture ... I would hope the Nameless Ones would not cross the line. Also remember the middle management (The Powers That Be) it was never stated that they lost their memories.

Griffin - well ... I think he needs to spend a life as his own daughter ... a fitting punishment in my opinion.

I doubt Narissa would be the donor, she seems to like causing grief in person too much to take a hands off approach. LOL

    7. That would be a fitting punishment. But maybe even both his daughters and his granddaughters.

  7. Connie -

If shapeshifters live on average 200 years, vampires are immortal, and Elemaiya before "the fall" were immortal, what is Ashe?

    You make me think! :)

I hope you sense the respect for your talented writing in all these questions. There is no other website (besides Facebook) that I check daily and definitely nothing else I follow so closely from an author perspective. You're awesome!

    1. Wildrif makes the point that half bloods inherit the immortality trait, while lesser percentages do not. If Ashe is truly half blood (and it would be a huge plot twist if he were not!), he needs vampirism like we need more Billy Beer. Though, with enough cheap bourbon, Billy Beer wasn't terrible. :)

Now the question is: Does Ashe get caught in Lissa's racial modifications? I suspect that is a story to be told in the Blood series. :)

    2. Thanks, Elizabeth! You're right, too--the trials Ashe goes through will not only weigh his character but give him experience for what is to come :)

Larry, you are very perceptive, and no, I'm not explaining that right now, LOL!

Alfred, you made me laugh--the Billy Beer comment is priceless and right on the money!

  9. First of all, I would like to say "Target" was a great read. Can't wait for the next book. Second I have a question regarding the Blood Destiny series. The Saa Thalarr are not allowed to interfere (unless under special orders or circumstance) and they are not able to lie, but it seems that Griffin does both. Why is that?

I mean Griffin goes and tells everybody that he is not allowed to interfere, and then he goes and interferes with peoples lives (which usually ends up making things worse more than better).

    1. Hi, Taylor :)
I'm really glad you enjoyed Target! As far as Griffin goes, well, he's been punished in the past by Thorsten for his "infidelities" (when he got caught, that is) and is being currently punished by Belen. Yes, it seems at times that the punishment may be too light to fit the crime. If you stick with me through the High Demon series, an answer will come in Demon's Quest, when all of Griffin's misdeeds come home to haunt him, so to speak.

Thanks for writing and happy Monday!

  10. Hi, I was just wondering, trying not to be rude, if it was possible to publish the next book of yours, Blood Redemption, a bit early...
I Love your books and buy them as soon as they come out to amazon, but this month I'm leaving for a holiday the 26th of June. I don't think there is any internet and I really want to read Blood Redemption as soon as it comes out, not more than a week after( hope I don't seem too spoiled or winy).
If it's not possible, I understand. To hurry an author is a bad thing.

    All well wishes on wards.
