Blood War Teaser

Here's a short one:

"Tsk, tsk," Erland muttered, shaking his head. "Perhaps Lissa should raise the topic of Diplomatic Immunity at the Conclave."

"That, my friend, would be inadvisable. She is new and many will be waiting, as vultures do when an ox is dying."

"I know. At times, I feel the need to cover myself in oil, just to slip through the tripe and garbage of Wylend's court. Lissa will have to contend with five hundred times that when she goes to Conclave."

Death has come to Le-Ath Veronis. A would-be assassin, aiming at Lissa, manages to kill someone close to her instead. A price has been placed on Lissa's head by Black Mist, an assassin's guild, who have been paid by a reassembled Solar Red. Throw in a spin-off religion, betrayal, the Five-Year Conclave for the Reth Alliance and a misguided kidnapping, and you have the seeds of war.

Right now the storm clouds are rolling in and the television is spouting the words "possible tornado." Have a safe and happy weekend--

  6. Can't wait!! Do not know if this is a no no or not, however don't forget to leave a review if you enjoyed reading Shadowed.

  7. As my kids repeated often on road trips: "Are we there yet?"

Definitely looking forward to this next tale. :)

  8. Hope you survived the tornadoes! We did. All we got was a little hail from the earlier storm on Saturday.

    1. Lots of wind and rain, but that's it. We're not far from Norman, so was a little worried when that one hit the ground. Thankfully it didn't last long. Glad to hear you're okay :)

  9. I love this series! Can't wait for the next installment. I was wondering about a couple of things though. Like why do Devin and Grace share all of the same mates and are they the only two females that will be like that? The way that a person becomes a Spawn Hunter for the Saa Thalarr like with Thomas Williams, Aurelius and Winkler. How does that affect the time line since technically they had died? Does Belen or Kiarra go back to the moment just before they die or are they able to somehow restore their lives and physical bodies? You had also said that Lissa and a few of the others from her world would be in the Demon series and those that have read Bumble and Shadowed know that characters from Lissa's world have popped up there as well so will Ash be making an appearance somewhere in Lissa's books? And last question I swear! {At least for now :)} You had mentioned writing another novel in this series (possibly) but that it wa told from a different persons POV. Can you give us a hint who that is?

Love your work! Thanks so much for sharing your worlds with us.
    14 days and counting!

    1. Hi, DaniM611!
Glad you're enjoying the series. As to the questions, I'll try to give you as much of an answer as I can. Here goes:

      1. Devin and Grace weren't the only ones, but after thinking about it, I wiped out information concerning another blended group from Blood Queen. More may show up later :)

      2. The way Spawn Hunters and Saa Thalarr are taken is this--usually they are pulled away right at the moment of death and a substitute body is left behind. Belen loves that part of his job :D

      3. Will Ashe make an appearance in Blood Destiny or High Demon series? That remains to be seen.....

      4. Regarding another novel in the Blood Destiny series, well, there will be two--both told from other perspectives. The first will be released after Blood Redemption and is tentatively titled Blood Veil. The second will have to wait until after the High Demon series is released and it is tentatively titled Blood Double. I can't give any information about the characters involved, because that would be a HUGE spoiler. Blood Veil is nearly completed, so I have to get back to work on that soon. The other keeps nagging me, so I have to get to it soon, too.

If you have more questions, just let me know--I'll be happy to answer what I can.

    2. Hi Connie,

Thank you so much for answering my questions. This is only one of the many reasons that you are on my list of favorite five authors. Which is saying something since I tend to pick apart the books I read. Well, truthfully, I do that with movies and tv shows I watch also. (I blame it on the catholic school education and how persnickety they tended to be about the quality of work we did!)

I can honestly say that until your book Bumble I had NOT read a young adult book for my own personal pleasure since before I graduated high school a decade ago. But since I have an eleven year old and a fourteen year old sister-in-law many pre-teen/young adult books are being added to the reading lists but for the first time I am the one adding a book to their reading lists that I have actually read and thoroughly enjoyed instead of going by other parents' suggestions. It feels good to be the one suggesting a book to the parent group for a change.

      Thanks again,
      DaniM611

  10. So glad to see there will be two more books coming after Blood Redemption. Also, am looking forward to the High Demon series. The Blood Destiny series has seriously caused me to not like other vampire books as much as I did. :)

  11. Hi Connie,

I hope you are well. I am loving the little tidbits you are throwing out there.

-I am looking forward to reading about Karzac's son Kevis in one of the future series.

-Loved that Amara got the baby she has wanted forever.

-Loved that you brought Winkler back. I was hoping you would. He is one of my favorite characters. I am really looking forward to reading more about their reunion. (wink....wink)

-Loving the Bumble series. I wish I had a friend like Ashe when I was 13 or 14. Heck, now for that matter.>>>LOL

-I was a little disappointed with Kifirin. I am afraid the makeover on Gabron is not going to go over well with Lissa if she ever finds out. He may be in the demonhouse if she does.

-I would still like to see Merrill pay some consequences for having the M'Fiyah with Lissa destroyed.

A couple of questions now. Sorry to be so random. I have been wanting to post for a while and can't find the time. I am on my lunch at work and want to get it all out.

-1 Will we find out who Reemegar's mother is? Seems as though Pherrigar made a point for her to ask and she never did.

-2 Belen mentioned a replacement for Grace since she was pregnant. Was Winkler that replacement? If so, what will he do after? He would make a great ruler over the werewolf planet.

I have other things I wanted to say and ask, but I can't think of them now and I need to get back to work.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions.

  12. Hi, Mari :)
Sorry to take so long to get back to you--I've been out of town for a few days and in and out of communication. Reemagar's mother was named Reema, she wasn't Larentii and she died when Reemagar was born. He feels a great deal of guilt over that, because birthing a Larentii child is difficult under the best of circumstances. Grace knew Reema when she was pregnant with Reemagar, so it was a loss for her, too.

As far as a replacement for Grace, well, Belen decided to bring in several instead of just one; he (and Kiarra) figured they'd need a bunch of spawn hunters in the future, so they went in that direction instead, bringing in Aurelius, Thomas Williams and Winkler :) Grace only needed a few months before she'd be back in action, after all.

Hope this answers your questions, and as far as Merrill is concerned, well, wait until you read Blood War. The landscape may change.

    Happy weekend!

  13. Hi Connie

I am now counting down the days to the release of Blood War and so is my daughter who has also become hooked on your books.
I just needed to ask about the M'Fiyahs as I am a little confused. Why did Karzac have to ask for a M'Fiyah if he loved Lisa, why couldn't he be with her without one, does it make someone fall in love with the other person and if you mute it instead of destroying it what difference does that make? sorry if I'm overthinking this!

Glad you survived the Tornado scare, at least thats one good thing living in England, all we have to worry about is the rain!

    1. Hi, Linda!
That is a very good question. Yes, they can have relationships without a M'Fiyah--after meeting Lissa in Blood Domination, Karzac went on to have a relationship with Christi, a healer for the Saa Thalarr, with whom he didn't have a M'Fiyah. It lasted 30-40 years, until they both decided to call it quits :) Karzac did have a M'Fiyah with Devin and Grace, though. (And with Lissa, though Thorsten muted it. They both felt a residual twinge, anyway)

The M'Fiyah is mate recognition--a much heavier version of love at first sight and is set before birth. Muting one means it can be easily reinstated. Destroying one takes a great deal of power to repair and both parties must agree to it.

I hope that answers your questions--if not, just let me know and I'll work on it, I promise!

      Thanks for writing :)

  14. Hi Connie,

I am re-reading the series before the new book comes out and I was wondering, who gives the council, Gavin and Tony their memories of Lissa back?

That is the BIG question. You'll get an answer eventually (if you don't figure it out for yourself, first). Right now, the answer is a huge spoiler. Sorry :(

Hope you're having a wonderful day--
