Questions

Hello, everybody! Hope your week is going well. The reason I'm writing this blog post is to ask a few questions. Last Saturday, I went to a writer's meeting. The speaker, a well-known author, said he writes blogs three times a week. Regularly. Well, color me embarrassed. All of you know that if I get even one post out a week, it's a miracle or something. So, I'm asking you--how often do you think I should blog? Once a week? Twice? Three (shoot me now) times?

Also, this same writer said that he writes book reviews on his blog. (Gasp!) I seldom do reviews, or if I do, they're short and sweet. So, again, what would you like to see me blog about? Or, would you like guest posts from other people (authors, bloggers, etc.)? More short stories? I may have a couple lying around. I even have one (a very strange one) about the expiring Mayan calendar and a conversation between two deities that I've considered putting up--with a disclaimer, of course :)

Therefore, here's your chance to make suggestions. I can't make any guarantees--after all, if you want me to blog about marmosets and lemurs, I will respectfully decline.

Spoiler Alert!

If you haven't read Blood Rebellion, you may want to close your eyes and not read the previous post :)

Blood War

Here's the first line in Blood War:

Winkler was having a second helping of ribs and grinning at me. "Do I have a bedroom at the palace, now?" he teased.

"Honey, I think you can have just about anything you want," I replied, smiling like an idiot at him.

Shadowed Teaser

Because several other books have the title "Shadow", I have retitled the second book in the Legend of the ir'Indicti Series "Shadowed". I only found one other book with that title, and it was in a different genre. Now, for the teaser:

"This is all that's left?" Bill Jennings, Director of the Joint National Security Agency and Homeland Security Office glanced up at his assistant. Seven names on a piece of official letterhead had been passed to the aging Director. Bill was two months away from retirement and the president and other high-ranking officials were vetting his replacement. Bill shook his head at the list of children still living. Another piece of paper resting under his hand listed the names of the dead. There were nearly six hundreds of those, and he still wasn't sure they'd gotten information on all the children involved. He worried about many other children listed as missing—had they been abducted? How could he explain these things to the president, let alone someone coming in to take over his position? Bill sighed heavily. "Where are they now?" he asked.

"These six," Vince Jordan, Bill's assistant, tapped the paper, indicating the first few names, "are relocated, but we've seen how unsuccessful that has been in the past. You know where the seventh one is, through Mr. Winkler."

"Yes. I do know where the seventh one is," Bill agreed. His once dark hair had gone completely white and had thinned over the years. His brown eyes now required glasses to clear fading vision. His face, too, he barely recognized in the mirror most mornings. When he had time to examine it, that is. Wrinkles and lines—that's mostly what Bill saw when he looked. Winkler, the werewolf security mogul who provided the government with recognition software and other security measures, being what he was, still appeared quite young. Most people would think him thirty or so, although Bill knew the Dallas Packmaster was more than one hundred years old.

"Do you think, sir," Vince mused aloud, "that we might put these six," he tapped the paper again, "where the seventh one is?"
* * *

Of the hundreds of Bright Elemaiyan half-children born to human parents, only seven remain. Six of those have been relocated, but the Dark Elemaiya are closing in to destroy them. The seventh, Ashe Evans, resides in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. Government authorities, in an effort to save the relocated six, approach the residents of Cloud Chief seeking shelter for the half-children. Ashe must find a way to keep them safe as murders begin to pile up outside Cloud Chief's protected boundaries.

Office Supplies!

I am an office supply junkie. What drugs are to other people, nice pens are to me. If I find a type of pen I like, I buy several. At one time. See how I'm addicted? It's sad, I know. Sticky notes? OMG. At times, I have all my plot points written on post-its and they're lined up on the edge of my desk. Or on the bottom of my computer monitor. I could take a picture of the post-it hanging from my computer monitor right now and post it here, but it contains the BIG reveal—the one that explains almost EVERYTHING. That will have to wait.
Yes, there's only one sticky note there right now, but there are others on the computer itself, several stuck to the laptop, the printer, the file cabinets, etc., etc. The reason my desk is relatively clean at the moment is that last week I bought a new printer and I had to make room for it. Yes—that's what I splurged on this time—a new color printer. My old one died months ago, and I only hauled its carcass away when the new one arrived. The new one is wireless and I almost cried tears of joy when I printed from my laptop the first time. Nobody—and I mean Nobody—should get this emotional over office equipment.
Because of my addiction, I regularly get rewards and coupons from all the office supply stores and the electronics stores, too. Those only feed my habit. I used several last month when I bought my Tempur-Pedic office chair after my back started bothering me. If there are support groups for office supply junkies, I should probably join. "Hello, my name is Connie and I bought pens yesterday." *sigh*
